Website Production

Our Commitment

Our business is committed to producing long term relationships with our clients. Reasons we value our clients loyalty include:

  1. Our business grows when our clients refer us to others.
  2. Our business becomes more effective and efficient at providing services and consulting as relationships with our clients develop.
  3. The internet is always changing and so is your business. We will be there when your business wants to take advantage of new services or your website needs to be changed.
  4. Like the plant that is the metaphor for SunPoweredProductions.com, we see our commitment to our clients as a way of ensuring that our business grows together with yours.
  5. We believe that ones measure of wealth includes strength of community and the respect that comes from service to others.

After you Introduce Yourself, we usually begin the website production process with a email or phone conversation in order to:

  • define your needs
  • develop a strategy to address those needs
  • set a time frame
  • establish a budget
  • define immediate actions.

The first task in producing a website is to establish the purpose of the website. Usually, the underlying purpose is some combination of these four goals.

  • Promote a Service
  • Sell a Product
  • Provide a Membership
  • Spread a Message

Then we develop a 3 phase strategy to fulfill the purpose. Usually, we provide a detailed proposal describing this strategy, which includes a cost per task budget breakdown.

Phase 1: "The Roots" - Define & Implement Technology's

A working website will need a domain name and webhosting. You will also want email addresses @yourdomainname. We provide these services, but also have a great deal of experience working with godaddy.com, networksolutions.com, 1and1.com, hostmonster.com etc.

Increasingly, websites are being built around content management systems like Joomla, Mambo or Drupal. These powerful free applications allow for feature rich websites to be created quickly and give our clients the ability to change the content of their website themselves without having to know any code.

For ecommerce, a shopsite will be selected. We prefer open source solutions like ZenCart, Virtumart or OsCommerce, but also have experience using proprietary systems like Fortune3.

Phase 2: "The Leaves" - Website Design, Structure & Content

To achieve the purpose(s) of your website, the appearance, structure and content must attract the desired visitors while clearly communicating the desired messages. The navigation must be intuitive so that visitors go where you want them to and the content must provide visitors with the necessary motivation to sign up for a membership, purchase a product, contact you desiring a service or appreciate your message.

We accept written text, photos, links to websites you like and collaborative conversations before beginning to ruff draft your home page and any relevant content pages in a graphic form. We submit a number of drafts (usually 1-4) to you for comment and alteration, before committing to a design. We then transform the graphic designs into templates for shopsites & content management systems or traditional html webpages. We test your website in all the major browsers and make adjustments as necessary.

We then accept any remaining website content from you to enter into the site, train you on how to enter content using a content management system or shopsite backend or some combination of those two methods.

When you agree that your website is ready, we "make it live" by placing it in the root of your domain.

Phase 3: "The Flowers" - Attracting Visitors to Your Website

Little success can be anticipated, without a strategy for brining the right kinds of visitors to your website. The third phase involves implementing a website marketing strategy.

We're familiar with a variety of techniques and services that will attract visitors to your site.

  • Search Engine Optimization
  • On-Line Advertising
  • Newsletter Management
  • Directory Listings & Social Networking
  • Print Material: Business Cards, Brochures, Fliers
  • Video Production

While we describe this as "Phase 3" consideration of the website marketing strategy is necessary throughout the process of producing a successful website. To find out more about these services and develop your own website marketing strategy, please visit our Website Marketing section.
