| Chapter 4 - Setting Up Email |
|
This page will guide you through the process of setting up email accounts associated with your domain name. By the end of this page you will have created one or more "@YOURDOMAINNAME.com" email addresses.
Congratulations you now have one or more email addresses "@YOURDOMAINNAME.com". You are now ready for Chapter 5 - Set Up Joomla. Email FAQ1. What is a Catchall Account? - A catchall account receives all emails going to your domain name that are misaddressed. For example, if someone sends an email to " This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ", but I do not have an " This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it " email account, a catchall email account would receive their email. While there may occasionally be a well intentioned emailer who simply spelled the first part of your email address wrong, the vast majority of miss-named emails going to a catchall account will be spam. We recommend leaving the catchall account option off. 2. How much "Space for this mailbox" should I allocate? - The email accounts that are free with the purchase of a domain name include 1000mb of storage and 1 email box. Since there is only one email box in this account the full 1000mb should be allocated. However, the email accounts that are free with the purchase of an Economy hosting account include 100 possible email boxes and 100mb of storage. We recommend allocating an equal amount of storage to each email address you set up. So, if you have 5 email addresses, then each one would have 20mb of storage. If your email boxes tend to fill up, you may want to consider purchasing an additional email plan. |
